The three Spring time themes are: Beginnings ~ Books ~ Local Church—Community, Thanksgiving ~ Eucharist—Relating and Opportunities ~ Easter—Giving.
Important Feast days will also be celebrated. In continuing with our virtues from the Catholic Pupil Profile, this term the children will be growing to be Curious and Active, as well as, Intentional and Prophetic.
Turrets and Tiaras
During the Spring term our over-arching class topic will be Materials with our sub heading being ‘Turrets and Tiaras.’ Within this topic we will be focusing on the stories Zog and the Flying Doctors, The Knight who Wouldn’t Fight, The Story of the Red Dragon, Castles and closer to Easter our focus will be on The Easter Story.
This project has a D&T focus. At the heart of this project children will write instructional text.
In this project the pupils will learn:
Significant castles of Wales and those in our own locality.
Understand the features used in persuasive text;
Read stories and dialogue fluently;
To begin to understand the uses and properties of materials as well as starting to understand correct experimental procedures
To make a shield suitable for a knight
Similarities and differences between castles and the homes in which they live now.

Different types of castles, their features and how they were used in the Middle Ages.
