Class Information
Â
We are blessed at St Mary's without some fantastic outside areas as well as a large classroom filled with fun activities. You will see many of our photos in the gallery below involve wellies as we use the outside forest area and field to do our outood learning. Our Nursery pupils love it!
Â
Our theme this half term is Frozen. We are using the ‘Let it go’ song, ‘The penguin who wanted to find out’ and ‘Dot in the snow’ as different stimulus’ that will lead our learning.
We will be using our senses to explore ice and talk about how it feels and complete a science investigation finding out ways how to recuse our friends who have been frozen in the ice. We will be looking at different animals (especially penguins) that live in Artic and how they live in such icy conditions! We will use our recycled milk bottles to create a big igloo for our role play area, create different snowflake and penguin crafts and using our mathematical skills to learn about temperature, seasons and comparing sizes of penguins. We will also take our learning outdoors and use our natural resources to create even more Frozen magic!

Â
During RE lessons, we will learn through the following themes:celebrating, gathering ang growing. We will also follow events related to the Liturgical year such as: Lent and Easter.
In line with the Catholic Pupil Profile, we will be growing to be Curious & Active and Intentional & Prophetic.

Health, fitness and well-being is very important to us. We enjoy the opportunity to use the outdoors every day, during active and independent learning (Busy Bees).
Our competitive focus for PE this term is Dance, which is every Monday. We will focus on coming up dances for traditional nursery rhymes and looking at welsh folk dancing.Â

Reading is a big part of our learning so it is very important that our parents/guardians listen to us read at home on a regular basis. We take our books home and back to school every day, so we can take part in daily reading. We enjoy using reading eggs to help us with our sounds and listening to the jolly phonics rhymes.

You can practice activities learnt in class through the homework tasks given out every Friday. You will find these on HWB.
